About
Est. 2009Label
Day’s Eye Records is an independent record label founded by Eric M.Y. Chan in 2009, rooted in the underground music scenes of Hong Kong and Macau.
Day’s Eye Records presents music with its own language: alternative, darkwave, experimental, drone, noise, black metal, dark folk, neo-classical, avant-pop, and other sounds that move outside the centre. Its catalogue is shaped less by genre boundaries than by atmosphere, tension, and artistic intent. Each release is approached with timelessness in mind, documenting works that carry their own identity beyond trend cycles.
The label is drawn to music that can be fragile, abrasive, ritualistic, cinematic, damaged, strange, or quietly beautiful. Rather than following fixed genre lines, Day’s Eye Records works as a curatorial space for artists building their own worlds.
Beyond releasing music, Day’s Eye Records also works as a booking agent, promoter, and live culture platform. The label hosts Kill The Silence, the Noise On Site series in Macau, and has presented the Hong Kong and Macau editions of Lausanne Underground Film & Music Festival (LUFF) from Switzerland and Jolt Arts from Australia.
In 2024, Day’s Eye Records opened its associated studio in Taichung, Taiwan. GenLab is a creative laboratory for experimental music, artist development, recording, production, and long-form sonic exploration.
From Hong Kong and Macau to Taiwan, Day’s Eye Records operates as a label, studio, promoter, booking agent, and archive for underground music, documenting artists who build their own language outside the expected path.
